It’s such an amazing moment when one sees dreams become reality. I had the privilege of being able to document such a moment recently during the book launch of “An Elephant’s Tale” which is written by Priyanka Ram, the Founder and Director of Raising Education Within Africa (REWA). The watercolour illustrations in the book are beautifully done by Sumedha Sah. “An Elephant’s Tale” tells the story of a young elephant, Tusky, who was orphaned when poachers killed her mum. It’s a beautifully written and illustrated story about love and friendship and family within the animal community, but also sheds light on the tragedy of ivory poaching in a way that young children can understand. Priyanka, thank you for sharing this story with the world and we look forward to what great things are ahead!
Priyanka’s father gave a very moving speech at the beginning of the event and shared with me that his daughter’s love for writing began at a very young age.
The kids were soaking in every word from the book reading!
It’s always fun to have a copy of a book signed by the author!
I can still very clearly remember meeting one of my favourite authors around this same age – such an exciting moment!
One of my favourite images from the day – Priyanka reading the book to her daughter!
